-1 John is a perfect addendum to the Gospel of John.  It affirms the faith and is an excellent book for a new believer and/or to push someone over the edge into faith who is on the fence after having read the Gospel of John.  They really go hand in hand…The Gospel of John and 1 John.

-1 John is important because it gives assurance of eternal life, shows us again that Jesus is the Savior of the world and that He is the only way to salvation, shows us the marks of a genuine believer and a false believer and warns us that there will be false believers in the church, deceivers who are there to try and lead us astray.
